"Do what you love, and do it well." This is the unofficial tagline of NEXT, the charter school at which I teach English. We strongly believe that students should pursue their passions but that they need the structure and tools to do that with excellence. Everyone LOVES the idea until they realize that excellence+pursuit+tools looks a lot like work!
Many of them do amazing things with the i3 process (interest, inquiry, impact), but the purpose of reflection still mystifies and annoys many. From my experience in work, attempted entrepreneurship, art, dance, and ALL the other, I know the importance of reflection, failure, and refining a product and a process.
To that end, I'm refining my Write 31challenge. I will be using the blog to follow my artistic endeavors, reflect on my journey, and make improvements to model the i3 process for my students.
