Teaching Belly Dance: Growing Strong Dancers

In 2024, I'm more focused on strengthening my dancers rather than performing (although we will perform!).

A big part of this is facilitated by the new studio space---I have the time and location to focus on technique!

For the Intermediate Dancers, I have several six-week series going.

Mondays

  • Technique

  • Musicality

  • Essentials of Choreography

Wednesdays

  • Improv

  • Improv Games

  • Dagger Dancing

In addition to these classes, I'm bringing in guest artists that provide the expertise I don't have. These include a drumming instructor, a zill instructor, and a double sword pro.

The Beginning Dancers have their own days: Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tuesdays

  • Technique

  • Drills

  • Combos

Thursdays

  • Elements of Choreography

I'm developing more core strength with the beginners and working toward that deep, internal movement demonstrated by Taheeya Karioca and other dancers.

If you're a dance instructor, what are you incorporating to teach belly dance more intentionally?
