Preparing for 2025: Belly Dance Costume Inventory

I love goal setting. I'm a forward-looking person, impatient to create and unsettled by too many ruminations on the past.

However, goal setting and planning are best served by looking at what the year brought (good and bad) and preparing for the New Year!

To this end, I'm encouraging all of you to do a belly dance costume, jewelry, and prop inventory to see what you already have before you buy more in 2025.

(Costume by Sam)

Belly Dance Costume Inventory

  • Make a list of each style of the following: skirts, pants, tops, hips scarves, accessories.

  • Mend pieces that are torn.

  • Replace or tighten up sequins and other bling.

  • Hang or gently fold pieces and label them as you put them away (shoeboxes for bra tops work well. Thanks, Heather!).

  • Sell or donate pieces you no longer can wear or don't want anymore.

  • Make a list of pieces you wish you had.

Belly Dance Jewelry Inventory

  • Sort through and untangle your jewelry.

  • Clean pieces that need cleaned.

  • Put together sets that you often wear together.

  • Replace or repair broken pieces.

  • Make a box of broken or unused jewelry that could be used as costume bling in the future.

  • List jewelry that you would like to purchase in the future.

Belly Dance Prop Inventory

  • Locate and catalogue the props that you own.

  • Repair and clean them.

  • If necessary, check into new cases now that you've taken them to various events.

  • Dance with them briefly to see if there are any flaws you've overlooked.

  • Make a list of new props you might need to order.

You can make a copy of this Google spreadsheet to take inventory and then download the inventory checklist below (the PDF version is below the graphic).
